The General Meeting is the main decision-making body of the Union. Students who attend quorate General Meetings can determine the policy of the Students’ Union.

  • Any member of the Union can attend and vote at a General Meeting
  • Any member of the Union can submit a motion to a General Meeting
  • General Meetings must have at least three hundred students present. This is called the quorum
  • Policy passed by a General Meeting remains valid for three years

Policy is put to the meeting in the form of motions and these motions are then voted on. If a majority of those present vote in favour then that motion becomes policy for the next three years. The Executive are mandated to carry out this policy. All policy however needs to be lawful and in line with the Union Constitution. You will need your library card to vote.
